Powell admits intelligence was cooked
Saturday, April 3rd, 2004Deep Blade calls on US Secretary of State Colin L. Powell to resign immediately.
News reports today say that Powell has admitted key aspects of the weapons case against Iraq were not as “solid” as was his claim in a February 5, 2003 presentation before the United Nations Security Council.
According to a New York Times story, Powell blames the CIA for the failure. He portrays himself as an honest, diligent purveyor of a case solidly backed by the CIA. The Times now quotes Powell, “If the sources fall apart, we need to find out how we got ourselves into that position, …, and I’ve had discussions with the CIA about that”.
If Powell is honest, he will resign because he should recognize that he was used by elements within the government to help drag our country on false pretenses into a conflict that has cost thousands of lives. How can he continue in his position after allowing himself to be used like this? How can he continue to serve such a government?
