"It is much to be hoped someone will extract examples from the Nuremburg Trial transcripts"

Tomorrow is the 60th anniversary of the start of the Nuremberg trials.

I linked to your entire post with The struggle for the rule of law: Guantanamo and torture, but trackback did not work for some reason.

It is much to be hoped someone will extract examples from the Nuremburg Trial transcripts of what was considered inhuman treatment by the standard of that day. And compare it, empirically, to the new Dershowitz standard. Such a study would make a timely addition to the Holocaust Museum. Or to the Branch Davidian Museum that ought to be built at Waco.

That's OK. The first was a reference to the Americablog article about the London bombing. Then I saw that you already had that, and sent a second, "never mind" comment. Never mind. But also: Are you hydrated yet?

David -- Seems to me I saw two brief posts you made here. Apparently they disappeared and I have no idea why. Haloscan has been acting strange at times over the last few days. I looked at my control panel for your posts and they just aren't there. Please re-post if you can.... Hope all is well in Saint Paul...

Wow, Chris, thanks. Your Global Eye piece Love Me Tender at Moscow Times is superb as well. (Thanks for the link to that item I posted on Executive Order 13303 extension.) I'm following Empire Burlesque every day. Thanks again...

Dear Deep Blade,
What a fantastic -- and damning -- post, laying out, with stunning,well-sourced clarity, the hell that is descending upon us. It reads like a distillation of everything I've been trying to say since I wrote my first column on the Bush torture regime four years ago. In fact, I was writing a column on the recent appeals court decision that not only OKs military tribunals, but also, as you noted, accepts the truly sinister "reasoning" that there no practical limits on a president's arbitrary authority. While writing and researching the column, I thought, "Better see what Deep Blade has got on this." And then I found this post, which said all that I'd thought of so far -- and more! I'll probably go ahead with the column -- just to give this important and terrible development more play, in my very limited venues -- but I'll just be following in your marches, once again, and will make major note of that. Again, thanks for such a hard-hitting compendium of research and analysis.
