Friday garden blogging
Pea harvest began this week

Enough snap peas for daily servings

Sweet 100s going crazy
Even though we are getting good helpings of snap peas and this should continue for two or three more weeks, the harvest is not as abundant as it was last year.
Meanwhile, the Sweet 100 cherry tomatoes have taken off. The two vines will probably produce in the… hundreds. All that good compost I planted with them really helps.

Eric,
I’ve really enjoyed the photos of your garden. Gardens, lawns and park land here in Chicago are mostly brown due to a lack of rain. We could use a good, two-day drenching. Again, I’ve enjoyed the photos.

Ahhh, the Chicago summer. Our last full summer there (Evanston) was 1995, when a stretch of 100+ deg F with 85-90 F dewpoints killed hundreds of people. Yes, we prayed for rain and a break in the weather that year.
