Glad to read that your friends are fine. I have a friend here from New Orleans, Regie. He was featured in the local paper, as he hadn't heard anything from his father post the worst of the Hurricane. I have been reading the timeline you provided and have listened to Bennis on DN. It strikes me that your government hasn't a single leg to stand on. I only wish I had the time to really peruse and analyse official stements too, since they are often revealing in their ommissions (spin, in other words). I am currently writing a paper for my teacher's degree. It's a bit of a yawn but I've been given full reign on the subject matter. I'm gooing to write about how wars and conflicts are framed in college school literature. I've been perusing the National Security Archive for some interesting tidbits too, that's always fun.

Thanks for the post, Wallsy. In fact we do have friends in NO. They are well-to-do and evidently safe, though we have no specific information yet.

Please, please send my condolances, our condolances, to anyone who knew anyone who survived this disaster. I too was utterly moved to tears on watching the LA president's Tim Russert appearance. I was so angered, and so touched. If Bush and his despicable coterie are not removed soon, I will personally entreat anyone who is interested to do their utmost, energy and GOd willing, to remove these bastards from their selfish platforms once and for all. I am so sad this day, our hearts go out; from the British and Swedsih people to the residents of New Orleans.
