Quite, quite. I was actually a little surprised to by their insistence on sourcing. I mean, yes, absolutely. However, I got the impression that their sources were somehow sacrasanct, hmm.

The kind of laisser-faire democracy position where any democracy as long as it is democracy disturbed me too. Interesting stuff though. We could learn a great deal and, yes, they are bright individuals.

Yes reasonably intelligent over there, even if reactionary & arrogant. Kind of a military fantasist view... only America could deal with Big Bad Saddam...

I found it rather amusing that they have zero grasp of the US economic plans for Iraq, the Downing Street memos, or any of the official documents while making me out as some sort of unsubstantiated whacko.

Hi Eric,

I've been fighting our corner on the Pro-War page. I am actually impressed by some of the commentary; it is well constructed, cogent. However, the arrogance is a little overbearing at times and when Bernard Lewis was mentioned, well, I had to leave. Quoting Orientalists as experts in the field is a little too much for an old Edward Said fan to muster. That is not o say that Lewsi does not know his stuff, he certainly does. However, he is highly dishonest and certainly follows a specific Right_Wing/orientalist hermeneutic which I find reprehensible.
